9 1/4" AAM rear end, and no you do not have to do the front gears as well. It's just if you EVER switch into 4 wheel drive you'll have to have the guy with the flatbed go back for your driveshaft, transfer case and transmission laying in the road AFTER he loads your truck up...

- that's one way of saying it.
Front diffy gear ratio needs to match the rear diffy gear ratio. 4.10's in the back, 4.10's in the front.

^ haha it makes sense, i am not used to 4x4. but living in the north 4 wheel drive comes in handy. looks like i will be saving up my pennies. how much is labor? thanks guys mike
In my area the going rate is about $600 PER AXLE for gears, install kit and labor. IMO if you are going to go that far, save a few more pennies and have an Auburn Gear LSD or Detroit TruTrac put in while they are doing the gears...
i have a detroit tru trac in my mustang good rearend, i am prob gonna have to wait awhile b4 i get gears. i am getting a tuner and doing a home made cai.
