Default Fog Lights

my truck did not come with fog lights but i would like to put some in but really do not want to pay the dodge dealer price! is there a decent cheaper choice? while i was under the truck the other day flushing the coolant i saw a pigtail above the driver side foglight? i assume that is for the fog lights?

I purchased the Mopar accessory kit and found it on Ebay so got a good deal. I would strongly recommend this kit cause it is designed for your vehicle and is pretty much plug and play. In the kit, Dodge wants you to tap into your headlamp wire as the switch wire to the relay. I chose to lift the fuse block and tap the trailer running lights so I can run the fogs with only the park lamps on and do not have to have the headlights on. It also makes the wiring that much cleaner cause it comes out under the fuse block and it is not visible. Besides that everything was installed as designed and it installed perfectly

if you get a new headlight switch with the fog light option, its plug and play and you can have the parking lights on and just the fog with this switch

since you have the pig tails all you need are lights and a swtich. you wont need the kit with the wiring.
that should cut the costs down quite a bit

Yeah, if the truck is pre-wired (some are and some are not) then I would just buy the lights and put them in. But before I did that I would get my meter out and test the wires in that harness for 12v+ when you pull the switch for the lights. Some PCMs much be programmed for the fog lights to work. Thats a dealer only type deal unless you know someone with a DRBIII scanner or StarScan tool.

I got mine off ebay also, had the pigtail too. Get the kit w/out the wiring harness, think it's like 125-130 and comes w/ the new lightswitch. Do a search, I did a post on my install w/ pics, hope it helps.

My 2005 RAM came stock with the fog lights. the headlamp switch pulls out for fogs. So I am able to run fogs with just running lights. So now the question is does your headlamp switch able to pull, to operate the fogs, or will ya need to install a separate switch, OR replace the OEM head lamp switch with one for fogs .....
