Need help with buying 02 Ram
My buddy is selling his 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab for $8,000. It has 110,000 miles on it though and some damage on the passenger side. I'll post pictures so everyone can see. My question is this...How good are the Ram's with mileage? I know 110 is quite a bit for an 02. Do you think it's worth it? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kristin

seems steep, you should be able to buy a new ram just like that for 17,998 here in sacramento. The dealers around her ***** them out dirt cheep. Thats why I bouight one, I guess that makes me a truck *****. hahaha. Save your monney or at least get him down to 6k, then you got a deal. JMHO.

About the truck though. I went on autotrader and found other trucks just like this one with over 100k miles and they are going from anywhere between 12k-16k. So this deal isn't sounding too bad after all. I can get the damage fixed pretty for not too much. I'll sleep on it and figure something out tomorrow.
Thanks for the help/tips...keep em coming [8D]

Kristin,
Just remember that, just because they ask for it, doesnt meen that they get it. Around here a truck with 4.7, 2wd, auto, air cruise, slt, tow package will be 17,998 so I would think that it would be pretty tough for someone to get 16k on a used one with over a 100k on the dash. My truck that I just bought had an MSRP of 37,740, and I paid 26k for it. That is 12 grand off. BRAND NEW with the full factory warranty. a truck like the one that you described has a MSRP of about 28-29k, now take 12 grand off that. Also, keep in mind that body and paint along with mileage make for the biggest deductions in value. Like I said befor get it for 6k or no deal for me. I used to sell cars for a living so I can give you this advice from experience. Keep in mind that will most likely you will need to pay cash because virtually no bank will finance it in the condition that it is in or with that mileage.
Yeah I'd pay cash for it.
I currently have a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee and its a bitch because of gas. I use premium in it and I tow a LOT with it. So it's raping me in gas money. I've read a few threads tonight and got a round about figure on the mpg on the 02 dodge rams and its better than what my Jeep gets! I wish I could afford to buy a brand new Ram but I'm still a college student and I spent all my money on toys to be honest with you. My Supra is paid for as well as my Jeep. I try to pay $200 a month on my bike. I'd get ~8k for my Jeep if I sold it so it'd basically be just a trade off for a nicer vehicle.
So let's break it down...
PROS
Cheaper on gas
Towes better
I can put my bike in the back of it without having to haul my trailer across the state which saves me about $100 right there!
He's gonna throw in the bed liner and a ramp for me to load my bike
CONS
High miles (but my Jeep has 120k)
Damage to truck (guess about $2500 to fix)
