New to Dodge-Question about MDS
Is it possible to get MDS on an '05 Ram 1500 Hemi? I know the '05 cars had it and then the '06 Rams. Is it something as simple as a computer upgrade or are there mechanical issues that would have to be made?
I don't believe that for a second. These trucks are not designed for that kind of mileage. Way too heavy!!! Don't get me wrong, I too can get close to 20 mpg if I travel 55 mph on 100% flat highway in the summer months with next to no stops and starts but let's be realistic here. With different terrains, wind speeds, a 6000 lbs truck and the city driving that 95% of people do, that mileage is not accurate. I wish people would post their actual overall mileage so everyone doesn't get the idea that their trucks are either performing badly or they just don't drive properly. Anyway, thats my rant and no hard feelings bro. If you are averaging 20 mpg with mixed driving then it's mds for me but I am not convinced. Trucks are just too damn heavy.

Sorry, but that sounds like the number the computer is giving you. If you do the pencil-and-paper thing, you'll find it probably isn't that good. My C gets between 18 and 25 depending on conditions and it's 1,500 lbs lighter with a lot smaller face. Pencil-and-paper on the C for a quick trip showed just over 21 mpg with the cruise set on 80 for most of the run.

I don't know for cars but for trucks the MDS is to be more active at 65MPH or under.
