i know this beaten to death max tire width 07 ram 4x4
Well guys i need a bigger tire i know the 07 has the front ids and cant fit as wider tire than 02-05 so i got a couple choices here.First there factory 20'' i might be getting a set of 20''

ok the tire i want is the goodyear wrangler duratrack so whats the widest i can put that wont rub and i kinda want a taller tire for more cushion since i got a reg cab it rides like a **** tank so the more cushion goes a long way....lol wife says the same thing ..welll anyways heres the specs

If it's a softer ride you seek, you need more sidewall to absorb bumps, so a 17" wheel/tire combo will give 3" more tire sidewall flex at the same height a 20" combo will give you.
As far as what width will fit, it's dependent on the offset and backspacing of the wheel you choose...

yea well i just went to the best tire shop in town and i asked the guy about the duratrac wranglers and he said he had 4 company trucks with those tires he tried to
balance them and said they could not be balanced .
He said he could order them but said he would not waranty them ..wow he looked disgusted with me when i asked about them over the cooper discoverer st.

and they actually make a higher sidewall for a 20'' tire LT275/65R20 i might check around and try to get some guys that actually own them and see how they faired.
I asked how many kms get out of a set of discoverer st he said 60-70,000 wich isnt bad .But i also read that the coopers are made of a harder rubber wich what i dont want for winters wich is 6 months of the year i want a softer rubber

I'm not a big fan of Goodyear tires (or BFGs for that matter), but I got a buddy who owns two tire shops. Sells them Duratracs every day, never said 'nuthin about having any trouble balancing them. I got a feeling your "tire guy" don't make a good profit on them.
I learned from my buddy when I went to get Mickey Thompson ATZs for my Jeep (BIG Mickey/Dick Cepek fan, btw) that his "main" distributor had his Mickey/Cepek tires pulled when Mickey Thompson got bought out by Cooper. IF his regular distributor still had them, I'da been able to get them for $146 each (his cost) but since he had to go through a different guy, the price was higher plus with no weekly truck delivery coming, I'da had to pay shipping as well. Brought the price to over $200 PER TIRE.
Since his distributor carried Nitto/Toyo tires, he could get me 265/70/17s for my Grand Cherokee for $127.50 per tire, so I went with them.
BIG DIFFERENCE for a tire with around the same retail price just because one could come in with his regular weekly delivery truck from his everyday distributor and one had to come from someplace else plus having to pay shipping...

The tire shop im talking about specially deals in cooper/mickey t tires thats were i bought my zeons .I buddy at my work had gotten 70,oookm out of a set of m.t atz and said they were great in the winter but i read that the mickeys are a harder rubber tire when its -40 and above out here that makes them hard as steel .
I might just check into the discoverer st-c a little more i believe there a 10 ply also which gets good wear

I can't vouch for how they are when it's that cold, I got into Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepeks after moving south, but I can easily believe anybody can get 70k out of them, I got a buddy with over 80k miles on a set and I got 68k miles on my old set of the now discontinued MTXs and they still had good tread left when I traded my 2nd Gen with them on.
My FCIIs have almost 30k miles on them and ain't even 10% worn yet!
