Default New wheel/Tire question/clarification

Hi all. Fairly new to the board but I have been doing a lot of searching through old threads trying to figure out which wheels I need to order. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have an 06 1500 Mega cab this is stock except for the Pro Comp 33x12.5 tires that I have been running since the truck was new. I have the stock 17x8 wheels and have never had clearance problems. I am looking at getting some XD Series "Addict" wheels that are 17x9 and Nitto Terra Grapplers 295/70/17 that are 33.29 high and 11.13 wide.

Here is my issue. The wheel come in 2 different offsets, -12 with 4.5" backspacing and +18 with 5.71" backspacing. Am I correct in thinking that the -12 offset will help to push the tires out a little wider and this will help with clearance with the new wider wheels and tires? Medium offset is "recommended", but wouldn't that be more like the +18 offset? Is there any harm in going with the -12 offset? Thanks in advance, I need to clear this up before I order.

if you go with the 4.5 bs,your wheels and tires will stick out alot(2+ inches).this might stick out to far(rubbing the fenders)not sure though)

5.71bs will stick out alittle over an inch(and this is closer to stock, which is 6.1 bs)

I personally would go with the 5.71 bs...just my opinion
depends on what look your going for.

use this chart to help you.

you will love those Nitto's
these are 37" with 5bs

I'd go with the negative offset wheel myself, but I love a wide stance. Either will physically work...

Thanks for the response guys. Dan, the look of your truck is nice. Thanks for the pictures, really helps. That is the look I am going for. Plan to add black fender flares, black 4" oval nerf bars, chrome rocker panels to go with the new tires/wheels (truck is tan color). As I understand, no harm with -12 offest? I do like the "look" of a wider stance as long as it functions well. Thanks again.

Thanks, looks good. I think I will like that setup! No issues with tire clearance?

4.5 bs will work on a 2500,I just don't know how big of a tire you can go with before there is rubbing issues

Thanks Silver. I hope the 4.5 BS works, I just ordered the tires and wheels from Steve at Mr. Wheel Deal tonight. I will have to figure out how to post some pics and will let everyone know how it turns out.
