I have to ask a question. Why are you looking at motors when there's nothing wrong with yours? If it runs fine, just because it has 122,xxx miles on it doesn't mean it's gonna blow anytime. If you've done regular maintenance on it, I wouldn't worry about it until the time has come that you don't have a working motor anymore. If you're worried about compression, take it down to a mechanic and have him test the cylinders. That'd be a lot cheaper than worrying about a replacement motor if you don't really need it.

I agree w/ Cwboy. I have over 158,000 on my 05, and have had no engine problems to speak of other than fuel injectors. Do proper maintainance, and it should last. Now, if you want one to put on the side and build, thats different.

I also agree with cowboy

I have 137K on mine now, it still runs like it did new, still gets same gas mileage.

When the truck sits for more than a couple hours, I have a really loud ticking noise that takes about 60 seconds to go away upon restarting it. I assume it is a lifter that is going bad or something. I just figured instead of rebuilding the top of the motor I may as well drop a new engine in it since it has 122K on it anyways. Is my thinking out of line? Should I just replace the valve train assembly and cam it while I am in there? Thanks guys!

Alot of people have that ticking noise. I've had that noise since 55k miles (and who knows since before that cause thats when i bought it). It's an oil issue i believe. Somthing about oil not reaching the top of the block quick enough and there is some valve noise until everything is lubed up all nice. Bad design. Correct me if i'm wrong but this is what i've read. It's nothing to be alarmed about.... Unless that ticking doesn't go away. Don't fix what isn't broken, thats my theory. Even worrying about somthing that isn't broken or "might break" is just too much. Drive that dodge man, thats what it made to do.
