Default Spectre CAI question

i just recently installed a spectre cold air intake system on my truck. when i took it for the test drive it was extremely easy to hear the deep throaty sound over the higher rpms. before it had a really raspy suffocated sound but now that its been installed for about a week and a half ive noticed it seems like the sound has faded to a more moderate roar like before instead, i've also noticed my mpg's have dropped significantly since the first few days it was on. any idea whats going im pretty sure nothing is clogging it up, did the truck just get used to the amount of air being sucked in? any help would be appreciated i know it sounds like a weird question.

thanks

You really need to calculate your mileage my hand and over an extended period of time. Usually guys will not notice a loss of MPGs from adding a CAI.

its not that i lost overall gas mileage from adding it it went up significantly at first and now its back down to just a little over stock, im very self aware of how my truck handles and accelerates and i noticed a much bigger difference in sound and performance when it was first added as opposed to now, and its not that im used to it now i think it has something to do with the computer honestly. i can feel when my truck is happy or when it seems to slug around

You need to clean your MAF Sensor. Alot of times the sensor gets dirty after installing a more free flowing filter.

where is it located and what do i clean it with, i'll give it a shot and see if it helps. any other things that could possibly be causing it?

edit: just did some searching on the forums and dodges don't have MAF sensors we have IAT sensors guess thats why i didnt understand where it was, also found that i could probably go buy a new 1 for 8 bucks, just curious if it will really make that much of a difference, the truck 08 5.7 only has 32.5k miles on it.

dodges use something called speed density rather than MAF.
my guess is your computer learned how you drive and isnt giving you the same results. reset your pcm and see if you notice the sound again.

Resetting the PCM is always a good thing.

Probably drawing in hot air and that lowers power and mileage.
The stock intake is very efficient on the trucks. This is why there is no CAI tune for the trucks, only cars. The cars lean out from extra airflow, the trucks do not.
Is your filter shielded from the underhood heat?
