All they need is a dial gauge and a press. I guess that's too hard.

I would be pissed they wont fix it and you have to tow it again.

What kind of shop did you take it to?

I'd start calling around and find a decent driveline/ring&pinion shop and just get it towed to their shop.

Being a shop themselves, Im sure they are good with a few tow trucks. Maybe you can talk with them and explain it like you did to us and they can help out.

Some Rams require a specialty tool to remove the gears from the truck. You may have to take it to a Dodge Dealership if you want to replace just the gears. It depends on which set of axles you have in your ram. I've been lucky so far with my ram and not having any problems, I have an American Axles 4.10 gear ratio. However I've had every common problem that a ram owner can encounter. Hope you can get it repaired soon

today i had time to jack the truck up an look in the pumpkin an see what is going on.. the barring went out in the pinion and the pinion was eating the case away. so now i need a new case an a pinion and my gear is not broke but in SOME spots it is bent so i think im just going to buy a whole new pumpkin for the front in with 4:56 gears

That's what I thought. Sucks..

You could try scouring the internet wrecking yards for a Power Wagon front diff, iirc those came with 4.56 right?

Yeah that does suck big time but at least you know what the issue is and what you need to do to resolve it.
