Default Noisey lifters

Anyway, thats what it sounds like when i start up my 03 1500, lasts for 10 seconds or so then it will go away, is there a fix for this other than tearing it apart?

Nope. However, you can just take off the valve covers, loosen the rocker arm bolts, and slide new pushrods in there, which is commonly the source of that noise. Might want to swap out the valve springs while you're in there, they're bad for breaking on the 03's

I have to agree with swapping the valve springs. You would want to use 6.1 (16) exhaust springs and they are about $65 and new 6.1 push rods are about $11

Changing to synthetic oils also has helped quite the valve train for some guys as well.

At the dealer they wanted to know a make for the springs, I ordered for an 05 Magnum with the 6.1 and the price wasn't terrible. Especially for a dealer

Dealers are retarded as we all know.

Anyone looking for 6.1 push rods can find them HERE and anyone looking for 6.1 springs can find them HERE

They are slightly longer than the 5.7 push rods so if there is any slack in the valve train setup and causes ticking, the longer rods take up any slack there may me (although ive never seen anyone prove there was any)

Ok thanks. If there was no slack, wouldn't that put too much preload on the lifters?

You would think but when coupled with 6.1 (longer) springs I guess it makes up for it

Would these work on an '02 4.7 as well? I have a lifter or 2 that knocks for about 30 seconds on a cold start. Drives me nuts!
