Default Idle Issues / Shifting Issues

Need some thoughts on an issue with my 02 4.7 4x4. It seems to shift weird or just pop up in RPMs while running a smooth 50mph, almost like you would ease on teh gas just a bit. I have read as many threads as possible and am stuck on the TPS needing to be replaced. I already bought one and will put it on tonight as it was fairly cheap and seemed like the best options for now (this while cleaning the throttle body at the same time).

This has recently started right after I installed a new AC Condensor Fan. Now not being the best in an engine I got the job done but there is most certainly a chance I knicked something, bumped something, etc. that may have caused the truck to start acting up.

So my question is... any other thoughts as to what would cause this, something I may have done to look for while under there changing out this TPS? And one last dumb question... the person at the parts placed convinced me to buy a can of that Seafoam stuff. I read plenty of good things about this stuff but would I have been better off just buying a can of throttle body cleaner and directly cleaning it rather than letting a can of Seafoam in the gas tank do it. Thanks in advance!

I use seafoam in all engines but yes go get a can of TB cleaner and make her shine like new...depending on how long or if ever it has been done you may need to put some elbow grease into it but what a diff....also disconnect batt. to reset PCM.

Should I remove the TB to clean it right? I have had it since 50K miles and its got 111K and I know it has never been cleaned. Some of the online videos I saw they just sprayed in while it was still attached...? Will do on the battery.

Does the truck speed up when the rpm changes? Could just be the a/c compressor cycling on and off.

No, the speed doesnt change... and it is very frequent too, like every 10 seconds or so, especially if you are at a constant speed. And it can down shift hard sometimes. If I go from 50 to 0... at about 15mph it shifts hard... I saw a few other things it could be but this was the cheapest to start with.

Ok... changed out that TPS, cleaned the TB as best I could without removing it, and had the battery disconnected during all of that. Hooked it all back up and will now cross my fingers that tomorrow mornings ride will be smoother than the last couple of weeks. Thanks again for the tips!

Well, that seemed to do it. I drove to work (25 miles) and tried to replicate the norms to see if it was fixed and it certainly seems to have done it. I put the new TPS in, which was cake, even for someone like me who rarely does things under the hood and I also cleaned the TB out. Put a tank full of 93 with 3/4 a bottle of that Seafoam stuff and the other 1/4 in the engine. Cranked right up and no crazy idling or anything. The drive this morning was smooth and perfect.
