custom cai fab and install

Default custom cai fab and install

hey every one just got a cai made its out of 3in ex pipe
at the tb 3 1/2 piping is streched to 4in to fit snug over the factory rubber ring

them the tb piece was mig welded to the 3 inch ex piping that we had already bent to desire.

then more test fitting the piping and figuring out how to support the intake

so we decided to weld a ex bracket to the intake so that we could bolt the intake to the left side manifold intake bolt spot

then drilled a hole for the intake temp sensor

then drilled a sec hole and installed 90 pluming piece for breath hose

then removed the intake and spray painted with meltalic paint
and installed with filter

cost was $60 for everything, still need to make a splash guard and heat shield

Looks pretty slick. It's good to have access to tools like that. It makes things much easier!

x2 on the splash guard.....I wouldn't worry too much about a heat shield. When you are driving, the air is flowing through there anyway....heat shield will not make much difference IMO......

Looks nice but metal holds much more heat then plastic. Just sayin'

Yes, A heat shield will make a big difference, keeps heat from the radiator/fan from reaching the filter.

Yeah, although that's cool and how its made, i wouldn't have one made of metal. Once you crank up and drive, as long as you stay moving you would be ok. But once you stop and build heat under the hood you will heat soak that metal pipe and it will never cool off.

I say ceramic coat it so the heat will dissipate almost instantly, ceramic on an exhaust will allow the pipe to cool down in less than 10 seconds, I would imagine it wouldn't even absorb heat at all on a cai
