07 2wd 1500 Tire and Wheel Size Question. HELP!!!!
I need help with a correct wheel and tire size for my Ram. I have an 07 1500 2wd that has the factory 20" wheels with street tires. I am looking at going with a 17" wheel so that I can run an All Terrain or Mud Terrain tire. I am more than willing to install a leveling kit to accommodate a larger size. Does anyone know how large of a tire I can go with the leveling kit? Does anyone have pics of their 2wd truck with a level kit? I have been searching the forum, but was unable to find an answer to my specific question... Thanks in advance for the help...

There are a LOT of variables involved.
First off, I've measured some "35" inch tires as small as 33 1/4" in diameter. My own 35" Cepek FCIIs which Cepek's specs even list as 34.8" only measure a fraction of an inch over 34" and that's with the MAX tire pressure which I never run at. Measured a hunting buddy's brand new set of Goodyear Duratracs a couple weeks ago and found that their 315/70/17s listed at 34.4" where barely over 33" and I know Bear's 33" Mickey Thompson ATZs don't even measure 32". By comparison, the Nitto Terra Grapps on my Grand Cherokee (265/70/17) which are listed at 31.5" measure right at 31.5" with the max 35 psi of air in them.
Wheel specs also play a MAJOR role in whether a tire will fit. Often, with a factory wheel a tire will hit the control arm and you'll require spacers when an aftermarket wheel with a good 4.5" of backspacing and a negative offset will fit just fine.
All level kits are also not the same. Seen some 2" level kits level the truck perfectly and others not even come close.
and lastly, I've often seen variables within the same year trucks due to assembly where one will sit a tad higher (and even some trucks where ONE SIDE has more clearance than the opposite side).
There is also a BIG difference between fitting a tire and being able to use that tire. Some people want to go to a large tire for the look and never use their truck as a truck. They can get away with a larger tire than someone who goes off-road, tows or hauls.
So, when deciding what tire will "stuff" under your vehicle, the only true way to know is try it with your combination of truck, wheel, level kit and tire.
