2005 Ram stereo issues (vs my 2003)
Hello all,
Does anyone with an 05 Ram w/ the 6disc/infinity stereo think they sound like utter crap? My 2003 with the exact same stereo sounds excellent. I've had the head unit replaced under warrenty and the sound is the same. Apparently (according to my dealership) there was a change in the amp's between the years and they are not interchangable.
Am I alone on this? My 05's sounds TERRIBLE!

Why would they change the amp? That does not make any sense to me. Sounds more like a load of bologna from the dealership. I've got the same system in my '04 QC. Mine sounded bad, so I changed the speakers out. The factory speakers, even though they are "Infinity", are Made in Mexico Cheap Paper Cone Pieces of Garbage. Now my system sounds great.
My Infinity system is OK. Not great, but not bad. Definitely a dissappointment to have to spend money to get OK sound. Oh well, maybe I'll get around with replacing them with some Infinity reference series or something like that.
They sound like ****, plain and simple.
The best "factory" sound I ever heard was in my 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
My dad has the Infinity sound system in his ram, and it sucks.
That's why when I bought my truck, I opted for the 4 speaker setup. This way I can put in custom setup without having to bypass a factory amp.

i have the standard speakers in my 05. i didn't have enough bass so i put a 10" sub under my backseat passenger side. it sounds great now. i got my speaker box for $30.00 & my sub for $75.00 & my husband did all the wiring.
Doug-I have the same infinity 6 disc in my 05 and I agree it sounds like crap. I just don't understand how they can charge $750 for this option and still sound that bad. My cheap Kenwood in my 99 Dakota with Stock speakers sounds better then this. Dissappointed to say the least.

From my experience speakers are what one is most likely to hear and be a problem. Get better speakers before anything else, then reevaluate, if necessary. Buy by sound, not by label.
All the best.

Im not being to ****, I have a large system in my T5R (JL 12W3V2, 250/1, 350/4, Morel 6.5 componets, JL audio 5.25's, Inifinties in the rear doors ect ect) but my 03 sounds a 10000x better. I think I might just buy some cheapie speakers to replace the front doors and see if thats an improvement. It almost sounds like a bum amp to me though. Actually, my 98, 01 and 03 all sound better than this one (gotta love buisness write offs
)Strange.. we'll see how it goes from here.
