Default 16" rims?

Heard that it's possible to run 16" rims with a little grinding on the calipers, how hard is this to do? The motive is to be able to get cheaper rims/tires, especially used tires.

many people do it to run track wheels for racing at the strip.

I asked a while back about doing it all the way around. I think most were only doing the fronts.

I wanted to get 16.5 inch wheels and run them. But I never really got a for sure answer back from anyone. I ended up actually going bigger with 18's but wish I would have stayed with a 17 or ground them for a 16-16.5

Yea the 20s just barely look right for the size of the truck.

For offroading I'd like to have as much sidewall as possible, plus I really don't like the look of big rims, just personal preference there.
Main thing though is to cut costs, tires and rims are much cheaper on 16's.

I'm with you on having as much sidewall as possible, and I also hate the look of big rims on a 4x4. It just breaks my heart when I see a good 4x4 driving around on 22" rims with low profile tires.
I'm running my stock 17's with 33's. I actually bought TreadWrights. They were all sorts of cheap and they seem awesome so far. Life doesn't seem too bad with 17's.

I would NOT do that either. I have 17s on my truck right now and def would not go any smaller.

Question is, how much do you have to grind? If there's any more than a 1/2" clearance on the caliper it should just slide on (in theory)
Another reason is I would like to get rims with less backspacing to get rid of my big sidewall lugs rubbing at full lock
