I have a 1987 dodge Dakota 3.9 239cu I need a rear end what years Dakota will be compatible with this that I can use please reply I need help

3:55 gear is very common, although I have never seen anyone with a LSD with a 3:55 gear. The 02 if I'm correct has disc rear brakes and any 02 thru 05 rear axle should bolt up. Many of us have upgraded using a aftermarket differential and a deeper gear. Of course yours being 4wd would also require changing the front gear to match whatever gear you choose for the rear. my 02 has a 3.55 LSD, with disc brakes….my 03 parts truck is a 3.55 LSD with disc brakes…..both have the 5.9 gas in it…..not sure if the 4.7 or 5.7 trucks had 3.55 LSD

Was an available option (and usually standard with 17" wheels) through 2008.

dont get a posi..at least one with clutch disks that is. they wear out quick .
get a Tru Track with no clutches.....much better.
