Gears
i have a 2008 4.7L V8 4x4 with stock 20's and i want to put either 35 super swamper iroks, or some 35 toyo open country mt, would both of these fit with a 2.5 in level and am i going to have trouble turning them, because i really dont want to spend alot of money regearing my truck.
I know with my truck (2005) with the leveling kit, I can run a 35 tire and not have clearance problems. So.. you should be fine with that size.
as far as gearing goes, it depends what you use it for, and how you drive. Normal driving you will be fine. 35's are only a few inches taller than stock, so its not a night and day difference that some people make it out to be.
If you have 3.92 gears in your truck, you'll be fine, and it wouldnt even be worth the upgrade to 4.56 or anything. If you have like 3.21 or something, you might struggle to get it up to speed, but still aint going to kill you. LOTS of people put on huge tires, and never even consider regearing.
If you want to tow a lot with tall tires, it would be worth considering for sure.

It'll be snug, but you might be able to pull it off. The real killer for you will be tire width, if you plan on keeping your stock 20s, you won't have enough backspacing to fit a wide tire. I recommend sticking with 33s unless you plan on putting on some lift. With the 4.7, you'll need at least 3.92s to effectively run a 33 or 35 inch tire, anything less and you'll be dog slow.
Coil over 3rd Gen Rams have less room for tire width than the torsion front 3rd Gens and usually don't pull off a 35x12.5 tire with the stocker rims unless a wheel spacer is used.
As far as clearing 35s with a level, yeah they will go, but won't leave much room for articulation. You will be able to turn those tires/wheel combo ok, but performance will suffer for sure.
IMO if this is a strictly for looks thing (which is fine), then yeah you can stuff 35s under there with a level and be ok, just probably need them spacers for the width.
IF however, you want to use your truck off-road where you'll flex a little OR use your truck as a truck (tow/hual/etc.) OR want a semblance of performance from it, then you'll be better suited with a set of 33" tires on much lighter 17" wheels with stock gearing and just a level kit...

I just ordered my Motive 4.56 gears w/ Install kit from Moe's. I chatted with them over the phone for a bit yesterday, apparently, they had an unplanned office move which set them behind but assured me they were caught up at the moment. Very nice people by the way. If I get them before the end of the week, I'll be happy. I was considering AirRam but since I live in FL, 7% sales tax killed that deal! lol I'd get them quicker I know, but I'll be out of town this weekend anyway so no rush.

ok i would like to level it and put a 3in body lift, with a 35 toyo open country on the stock rim, would that help at all on clearence and would it still have the same power as far as turning the tires go?
