Default what is this knocking sound...?

cant tell what this sound is. kind of sounds like a rod knock, which im hoping its not. the truck has been making it ever since i bought it. the sound is just starting to annoy me, has no performance issues at all. truck is a 03 RCSB hemi, i bought it a year ago with 28k and it now has 38k. i think its weird that with such low miles that its making this noise.

this is from the driver door. can hear it good here.

this is a close up. can still here it but have to really listen for it over the other noise.

By chance, have you check each and every exhaust manifold bolt to make sure none are broken or loose?

i dont think its an exhaust leak, but ill check. if i crawl under there it sounds like its coming from where the tranny and motor meet. and also it matches the rpms, as they go up the sounds gets faster.

Gotta be careful with the metalic noises.
They tend to radiate out and are sometimes a pig to pin down.
What might seem to be coming from the right side, might just be on the left???
Try and get a mechanicsw stethoscope and have a listen around.
But, as the guys say above......it could be a manifold stud snapped and is now passing.

On a side note, my dad called me out to their house a few weeks back because their dryer developed a knocking sound and only when the tub was rotating.

So i pulled the front off and looked and didnt see anything. The we plugged it back up and let it spin and I quickly seen the issue. Somehow a sheet metal screw had come loose from somewhere and coincidently got wedged between the outer skin of the tub and was literally sticking straight out and when it was rotating the head of the screw was hitting the side of the dryers skinned frame. So to fix it we unplugged it and i reached in there and pulled the screw out.

I say all of that to say this, it might be worth it to pull the TC cover and look in there and see if any bolts have backed out or if you can see anything at all.

its defiantly not an exhaust leak. crawled under it just now. its coming from the rear of the motor. and can really here it through the oil pan. almost sounds like timing chain slap. but with only 38k on the motor its hard to believe it went bad already.

these motors dont have a chain driven oil pump do they?

How is the engine running? 03's are known for weak (broken) valve springs. 04's have some talk about throwing rods, but I don't really know the source of this problem. How does the oil pressure, spark plugs look? Of course this needs to be sorted out immediately. If it is a rod bearing it will destroy itself in short order. A main bearing will hammer loudest on start up and can last for some time. Hopefully it is something simple. Let us know....

oil pressure is always good. spark plugs i just did 8k miles ago at 30k. it just sounds like something is loose or rattling around in the pan. its been doing it for as long as i owned it. about 10k miles. the vids make it sounds worse then it is, its not as loud in person.
