If the HEMI-HAT is so restrictive, what about...
......... doing this to take some of the restriction away? It's not glued, I had a short piece of 3" PVC pipe and just mocked it up to see
what it looked like and how it would fit. I wonder if you combined this configuration with a K&N drop-in, would it open up the intake pretty close
to a full CAI w/cone filter? To me, this would look a lot "cleaner" and pleasing to the eye that a full CAI. I actually like the way the stock Hemi-cap looks.
Anyone ever tried it?

that would open it up a bit but with the cone filter you get almost double the cfm of air, so that is the only bad part. Good part is you wouldn't have to worry about water getting in (as much) but that seems to not happen alot anyways

i made a cai that came off the hemi hat to a cone filter sounded same as it did with the stock airbox.. didnt make any difference. so i make a full 4" to a big knN cone filter. that would probably be allot more less restrictive then the hemi hat but wont be like a full intake with a cone filter... looks good try it see how it works.
That is like a crude copy of the M.I.T. (Modular Intake Tube) from Airaid. I have the Airaid M.I.T. on my Ram. It is a nice and smooth flow of air from the factory air box to the throttle body.

If you take the "hat" off and look at it, it has chambers inside that parts the air thats being sucked in to the TB, so you are not getting as much air flow out of it and because of the chambers, it makes things quieter. If you are going to get rid of anything in the intake setup, the hat is the most restrictive.
