Default New '05 Hemi Sport Owner

I've been lurking around this board for about a month researching whether I should buy another Dodge to replace my 99 Dakota. Well, I finally made the plunge and bought a 05 QC Hemi Sport, 3.92 LSD, Premium Fabric Seats, 34 Gallon Fuel, towing package, Upgraded Infinity 6 Disc. Awesome truck...this is in entire different league then my dakota. We purchased a 21' Bowrider Boat about 2 months ago to replace our old 19' Boat and the old Dakota with V6, 5 speed, 2WD was having a tough time at the ramp with the heavier boat. Our last outing with Dakota had a rough time pulling out of the water, then the wife finally said to go out and buy a new tow vehicle. I test drove quite a few trucks before deciding on the Ram. We first started looking at SUV's. Durango, Yukon, Trailerblazer, Armada, Seqoui. I didn't like any of the SUV's...Guess I'm strictly and truck man. We shopped all the comparable truck lines. Chevy 1500, Ford F150, Titan, tundra and hands down the Dodge 1500 with the hemi was the best. I just love my new truck. I looked for over a week for a silver Daytona with Tow package, but couldn't locate one and really didn't want to wait 8 week to order one. Then I came across this Hemi Sport and love its styling.

I have 1500 miles on it already and can't believe the great gas mileage from a 345HP motor. We are averaging 16+MPG already. My damn Dakota with V6 was only 2 MPG Higher. Also, the towing difference between the dakota and ram are like night and day. LSD is great at our slippery ramps also. Did I already say that I love this truck??

First mods with be a CAI. Deciding right now on the Mopar or Volant CAI...Any opinions? Second mod will be a cat-back exhaust. I'm staying away from the Dual rear exits and the dual rear side exits. I don't want to lose low end towing power. I'm really interested in the Dual same side Borla exhaust installed on the Daytona's. It seems borla doesn't sell this and I need to buy directly from Dodge. I haven't priced it yet, but I assume it will be costly. Any Daytona's owners out there??? Is there a noticable sound/performance difference with this exhaust vs. a stock hemi exhaust?

Ohh, I have already ordered a ARE Tonneau Cover. $825 installed and I like it's features.

when i bought my truck, it felt like that exhaust tip is way too low.. do you get the same feeling?

when i removed my resonator from my exhaust i asked the guy if he could push the tip up a little. http://blackacid.sorkmos.com/ramsport/tint/P1060717.JPG as seen in this picture its closer to the body line.

Elevating the exhaust is fine as long as there is no significant amount of back pitching to allow water to remain in a spot and rust your exhaust from the inside out. This is especially important for people that take many short trips. This isn't as big as a problem as it was years ago b/c materials have gotten better.

Yes, the Daytona is available in Silver...I actually saw at the dealership tonight.

|3|ackAc|D-Yes, the exhaust tip seems low...I'm really considering purchasing the Daytona Exhaust. I like the dual side exits...I just need to hear one. When you removed the resonator, was there any performance or sound improvement?

i dont know about performance but i think it would help it a little since it is opening up the ristriction. but it does give it a big more of a growl.
