Mine sits all week. When I start it up Friday morning, it moves out right away. Sounds like the fluid might be a pinch low. My Gen II had an intermittent leak. It was reluctant every now and then. That's when I knew to check the level.

I will always print-up a copy of the T.S.B. in question and show it to the service writer at the dealership. FIRST, I will always explain the nature of my issue/complaint. Then, I will hand them the T.S.B information and explain that my issue/complaint is identical to what the T.S.B addresses. Good luck!

The customer may experience an initial delayed shift engagement following an extended off (not running) period of time, generally after being parked
overnight. The initial shift engagement may feel like a delay or slip when a transmission gear (reverse or drive) is first selected after engine start.
The customer may not have experienced the delayed shift engagement until after the transmission has been serviced, where the cooler return filter was
replaced during the service and/or repair.
The condition is not detrimental to the transmission but may cause concern with the customer.
The above condition may be caused by a suspect cooler return filter a part number of 04799662AB. This "AB" suffix / level filter may allow transmission fluid to drain back out of the torque converter. The drain back condition may occur over a period time when the engine (and transmission) are not running. With less fluid in the torque converter a delay in gear engagement may occur at engine start up while the torque
converter fills to its proper fluid level.

I just let it do its thing and then it's fine. I'm just worried about my wife driving it and not waiting for it to get into gear. Any suggestions on what the problem is or if you think it will hurt anything? Truck's got 72k on it too.

Thanks.
Just curious here. Did you notice what country the return filter canister was made in? My 03 did the same thing with OEM. Replaced with updated OEM troubles solved. Did a second service using Wix (made in USA filter) and no trouble. Now I ordered a 2nd Wix kit and filters made in Taiwan.

my 03 did same thing. it started around 75k and continued up until I traded it in. before letting her go, I had a tranny place take a look at it and was told the od gear was slipping bad. might not be your problem but that main problem I had completely affected my whole driving experience. shifting into drive from park; there was a delay. shifting into reverse either from park or drive, there was a delay. driving along at normal speeds like maybe in 4th or 5th and it would slip into lower gear just for a brief second. I would have dealership look into it, maybe save your tranny before you hear the bad news I had to endure.

Where was this published or was it? That sounds accurate to what mine is doing. It does it consistently in the mornings, which makes sense that fluid would be draining out of the converter. But then it will sometimes do it when it's been shut off for only around 30 minutes or so, but not consistently.

I don't remember where these filter were made, I thought all Wix filters were made in the US. That's depressing, I'll make 100% sure next time I get Wix now! Thanks!

I know it's 100% full. I'm checking it daily now and it still hasn't dropped.

Sorry for the delay, I've been out of the country for work for a while now.

Thanks for all the advice!!
