Tranny takes a while to get into gear...
Hey guys,
I did a fluid and filter a change a little while ago and ever since then, the tranny takes about 8-10 seconds to get into gear from park. It's right at the fill mark on the dip stick. I got the Wix two filter kit for a 4x4 and put Valvoline ATF+4 in it.
I just let it do its thing and then it's fine. I'm just worried about my wife driving it and not waiting for it to get into gear. Any suggestions on what the problem is or if you think it will hurt anything? Truck's got 72k on it too.
Thanks.

I think that it is just the nature of the beast? I took my truck in to the dealership, under warranty, regarding the delay in engagement. The first time they replaced the pan filter, under a T.S.B. It helped a little bit. About six months later I found another T.S.B. regarding the delay, regarding the transmission cooler filter, and I took it in again. Again, it helped a little bit but did not totally cure it.
Yeah, mine used to only take a couple seconds to get into gear from park. It just started taking this long after I changed the fluid and filters. And, it seems to only do it when it's cold; doesn't seem to do it as bad when it's at operating temp. Forgot to mention that before.

100% it's full. Been driving like this for about 1k miles or so. Not too worried about it, but I got on here and thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.
I'll check with the TSB, just seems strange how it started directly after the fluid was changed. Maybe they accidentally sent me the 2WD filter. I didn't exactly put the two beside each other, but I didn't notice a difference either. I KNOW the part # was for the 4X4 though.
What do you guys do about TSB's? Do you just go to a dealership and ask or do have to have written proof? That's new to me.
