Default 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 Exhaust Size

Thinking about getting a new muffler and I was wondering what the size of the pipe entering and leaving the factory muffler?

ok so i got a new muffler
Material: Aluminized Steel Overall Length: 19" Style/Size: 4" x 9" Oval Muffler Inlet Size: 2.25" Muffler Outlet Size: 2.25" Inlet/Outlet Style: Single In / Single Out Inlet/Outlet Location: Offset / Center Body Length: 13"
Its shorter than the original muffler. So I need a connector. Anyone know the diameter I would need leaving the muffler to connect to the 2.5 tailpipe?

What year is it? 26k miles and a 5.9, wow. Did you just get it or has it always been like this? Mine doesn't preform like the Hemi's, but it's no slouch either. If you give a little more info I may be able to help. I love mine ... in fact I've owned two. My first had different gears in the differential and it shot out of the hole like a rocket compared to my current one.

Well if the OEM pipe is 2.5 and you bought a muffler that is 2.25 in and out, then you need 2 reducers that go from the 2.5 pipe to the 2.25 inlet and outlet of the muffler.

My bad.... my muffler is 2.5 entering and leaving. So since the OEM pipe is 2.5 would I still need 2 reducers?

No. You would need two 2.5" couplers to slip over the pipe and muffler inlet /outlet so they can be welded
