need brakes
just curious, my brakes started squealing a few days ago so i figured its about time to change them. as far as i know there the factory brakes 36000 miles on them. i was told that i should just need to change the pads and not have to worry about the rotors. any arguments about that. i have always replaced both at the same time. also one of my biggest concerns is the brake dust, I HATE IT! is there any pad/rotors out there that will cure this but not empty the wallet. (my last vehicles cost around $60-75 for front disks and pads) i want the squealing and the brake dust to be gone from my life.

I would opt for new rotors or have them turned down if possible. I prefer the new rotors to turning though. When mine go I'm gonna replace with Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads. Seems to be the combination for price and performance. There was a post where one of the vendors was having a special on the combo. TruckXpressions maybe?
I would never change the pads without at least turning the rotors. Even if they are not warped, they are probably somewhat scorched. As a minimum rough them up with some sandpaper.
The squeeking could indicate you brakes need work, but as|3|ackAc|D indicated, most of the time it's because of brake dust accumulation. A good spray at the carwash could solve your problem.

I just bought new brakes at Autozone today, Duralasts with a lifetime warranty for about $25 for the fronts. I didn't find out until today but the brakes I had on it when I bought it used (which I think may be original) don't have a warning tab to squeal and let you know when the pads are low. I almost drove them straight down to the rivets since I heard no squealing. So better check on that. I'd like to switch someday to some high performance calipers and drilled and slotted rotors, but I'm scraping to get by as it is so I had to put all my mods on hold.
well i have still have like 50% of break pad left, i know this cuz i asked the dudes at where i get my tires plugged up.
will srt-10 break sys work on a dodge ram ?? like the callipers / rotors?

I never get the pads with the lifetime warrenty since they are usually harder than the rotors. This means that the pads will last forever and chew through your rotors in the process. I'd rather replace pads ($15-$30 for front) than have to replace my rotors ($60-$90 for front). DC has a bad reputation with warped rotors so at the first sign I would just replace them with quality rotors.
