Manual tranny's rule. I wish they offered them in the 1500 5.7L trucks. And yes, the only thing that usually kills a manual gear box is shock load (will break off teeth on the gears) So street driving should be fine i would think with extra V8 power goin through it.

G56 6spd for 2006 and up, some 05's have it too. Reverse is all the way left and down. Tranny is dang near bullit proff. And bolts right up to the Hemi

Does anyone know if the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same on a 4.7? I would like to swap out my small 6 speed for the larger one.

So the G56 eh? i did a search on carpart.com and found a few 6 speeds dont remember reading if they were the G56 or not... yea im thinking i will have to swap out shafts as well no big deal... few more questions... these tranny's out of a 2500 they would be geared for towing and hauling right? would i have to re-gear them or anything? because i do tow not huge weight tho and i dont want it to be a dog off the line or anything like i mean if i go to the local drag strip for some fun i don't wana be running slower

You can just start in second gear, first gear is a bear on the G56. How much money do you plan on putting into this project?? a G56 alone fetches a few thousand last i checked..
