Default Wheel Bearing Tick

I am in the middle of changing my brakes and decided to look for a noise I posted about earlier.

I noticed a very slight tick from the passenger side wheel bearing when turning the passenger side hub. I assume it is the wheel bearing and not from the joint under the boot.
The noise is kind of a hum.

There is no play in the bearing. I checked it wheel on and off.
Can they be greased?

Sounds like a bearing going bad to me. They are sealed units and can't be greased and the whole assembly needs to be replaced to replace them.

Do you have a 4wd? CV shafts tends to click when going bad. Is that what you are referring to"behind the boot"
clicks and hums are two different things, so you need to be a little more specific.

My bad, Didn't think about 4wd. Dog is right, Clicking would mean your CV's are most likely worn, Hum would be bad bearings.

When I drive there is slight hum.

I was trying track down that noise. I didnt find anything.
When checking the wheel bearings I spun the wheel and heard the tick.

It was a real light tick. I have had front wheels drive cars with CV joint issues. It didnt sound like that but maybe it was the beginning stages. I dont notice it when driving slow or turning sharp.

I notice the humming noise when above 20 or 30. It isn't too loud. Most passengers dont even notice it.

If you hear that same Hum when you manually rotate the wheel by hand, It is Most likely a bearing going bad.

And if it is the wheel bearing I would be ordering one off ebay and not locally unless you like paying a lot more.

Well thats the thing. I didnt hear the noise. I cant rotate the tire fast enough.

How do I get at the three bolts that hold the bearing on? Do I have remove the ball joints and tie rod?

I was going to finish replacing the brakes and drive it until it started to get worse. Not to mention I would rather buy it on ebay and pay half.

It sounds like the 4wd is engaged. What should spin when I drive in 2wd? It looks like everthing spins but the transfer case is not engaged. Does that sound right?

could be a cv shaft but usually they dont click unless the boot is ripped and all the grease is gone.
could be a very slight wheel bearing but a tick could be from a sunked wheel speed sensor as well
