Unhappy Please Help; Steering Clunk!

Guys,

I drive a;

2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab, 4x4 Laramie with the 5.7L Hemi.

The problem;

When I have my wheels turned left or right and am in motion, 10mph. I hear and feel CLUNKING coming from somewhere underneath. The closer I get to full lock, the more pronounced. In addition to the clunking, I hear squeaking at low speeds when the wheels are lightly turned and the truck is in motion...

Any ideas???

With appreciation,

Jim

Could be your CV joints...maybe check and see if one of the outer or inner boots are ripped. Someone else can chime in...

Unhappy CV Joints?

Does a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 have CV joints?? My research says U Joints. Where are the U-Joints located? Does anyone know? Are signs of wear/failure visible or is it something a qualified mechanic will have to diagnose??

Thanks again guys!!!

He ain't got CVs, he's a 2500 = SFA.

U-joints are possible could also be ball joints, but the Dodge SFA trucks suffer from a steering box flaw, although it's usually accompanied by vibrations at speed.

If it's the steering box, there is a fix:

^^ No one here had the fix they were just pointing you in the right direction. Unless i missed something?
Cuz everyone posted has a 1500.
clunking..sounds like your steering intermediate shaft is worn..common issue
otherwise, the steering box as Hammer stated which dodge has done recalls for, but not on all years???
Squeaking can be from dry balljoints. I'd say it's your tierod ends that are squeeking. i don't know if they are greaseable on the 2500's as all 1500's are non greasable and that is what i have.

Default Squeaking

The squeaking is more like angular or rotational, as the wheel is rotating I'm hearing what I can only describe as a squeak..... Not to be confused with turning the wheel left or right, I don't hear any noise when I do that..

Thanks for the help guys!!
