can anyone tell me what this is i have no idea spotted it while installing my body lift

im talking about the bar under the tailgate above the hitch it swivels and is metal

not really important just would like to know

 

I have never seen that piece before. As you can see I don't have one.

 

Have you owned this truck since new DaytonaDakota?
IT looks like an aftermarket add on?
I also don't have one fitted. It looks like some kind of "roller" fitted to aid something attached to the hitch???

No just got it a couple months ago. Second owner. Idk it looks likenits welded to the hitch like it came with it. It doesn't look like an add on Idk glad not the only one cluesless lol

What is the red wire in the first pic that is wrapped around the loom on the drivers side?

 

The other post only had a few responses. Its a damper of some sort, but what does it dampen ? And why do some rams have it and some don't ?
It also does not show in the OEM parts books.

 

Only thing I think that even comes close to this, is from a TV show over here in the UK..........Repo man.
They have a hook up system, to lift cars and tow them away.
I'm sure I've seen a piece of metal across the back on their truck???

Take it off,then maybe the FBI wil show up at your house and want it back. LOL
