Default BIG lift....

so. as of right now, i have a 6" (tweaked to 7.5") suspension lift, and a 3" body lift, and want to go bigger. only drawback being i can't seem to find any kits out there. granted, my truck is being put down for the winter for further mods anyway, but there's a whole lot of time involved in fabbing up my own lift that i don't have.

question being. anyone know of any really big kits out there for an 06 1500?

otherwise, i'll just have to design my own, or do an axle swap. either one will require a lot of fab work and time.

Would this truck be a 4x4 or a 4x2?

Im using a combination of things like you but I have 12". But I also have an 04 which makes a difference. Hammer does bring up a very good question though.

and yeah i shoulda specified that part. i found the whiplash kits, but those are only for 05 and older. if all i have to do to make that work is make a mount to adapt my strut then i'm golden....and, of course, since i've heard nothing but bad about their kits with shaft alignment and whatnot, i can tweak that too. not really a huge deal.

Sell it... Get a 2500... or plan on some major fabbing and a SFA swap. But everyone I know of who did the SFA swap had 5x more in it than they would have had trading on a 2500 in the first place...

don't take this wrong hammer, but apparently your friends don't know how to fab and just paid someone to do it. i've designed and built complete frames with one off suspensions of vehicles, but i simply don't have the time with my work schedule, and i already have another project (my minitruck) that has been in the works for way too long.
i can fab everything if i have to, but that's a LOT more work than an SFA, and if a kit already exists out there, then thats even less designing i have to do.
and no, im not selling it, not just yet anyway.

Go for it... I'd personally love to see you pull it off. You need to post up pics as you go. I think you are gonna have to design it from scratch myself.

and yeah, guys I've snatched out the woods basically just bought a Fabtech 6" kit, added body lift (or cranked the keys & added extra block in the back), which we both know AIN'T gonna work on an IFS. No fabbing, no beefier parts, etc.

Lot of guys come on here with a 1500 mommy bought them, want a huge lift and tires and think just by slapping down their parent's Visa and having a 6" lift, they are gonna be able to slap on 37s and play hard with it. I try to discourage them, because it just ain't gonna happen...

lol.. exactly. i know my IFS is gonna break into a billion pieces if i beat on it too hard, but i've been researching and watching more hardcore componants for an IFS and trying to find ways to incorperate all of them. but like you said, it's gonna take a lot of designing..
the way i see it is, if a trophy truck can do it, then why the hell can't i? obviously i don't have a team of engineers, or their budget, but i also don't plan on getting 2 feet of travel or going 120mph offroad either.

like i mentioned in my previous post, im used to the minitruck world where its all bout bagging, bodydropping, chopping, sectioning and all that good stuff. lifting is right along the same concept as lowering, but with a bunch of extra parts im not used to.
