Default Now its the PCM!!

so guess what..... the screatching noise that i had was because of the dirty pulleys. they had crap within the ribs!!! :icon_gu nhead: wow! so now that i have fixed that, there is ONE MORE!!!! OMG!!!! and its the PCM. the truck has been throwing codes P0131 (or O2 heater circute low) for a WHILE. i finaly took it in and they narrowed it down to the PCM.
Note: the mechanic is very profisional! hes not your typical back yard guy.

so! he was telling me that a "NEW" PCM is best, $500!!!! is this really what they go for? or can i get a used one?
Note: wierd that the code hides, and when you plug in a DTC it appears and stays on the dash for a couple of key turns????
he said that it was just PCM acting up???

Try these guys or do a related search on the internet. Better yet, Ebay. autocomputerexchange

http://www.autocomputerexchange.com/

These guys offer a PCM for my Dakota on their website for $265 and for $165 on ebay.....

They will also repair your PCM for even less than the low Ebay price....

Are you absolutely sure it is the PCM and if so, can you deal with it like it is or is it giving you driving/idling issues? You can always find PCMs cheaper than 500

I wonder if your block coolant temp sensor is no good? Not the one for the cluster readout, but the one for the PCM? You should be able to read it with a multimeter when the engine is cold and then warm by reading the resistance across the terminals. Dont even need to remove it, just unplug the connnector.

When is the last time you used some good fuel injector additive? Could even be a lean issue??

Doesn't this sound like a O2 sensor problem?
