My 03 has 83k miles on it. Do you guys think that is too many miles to do the Transmission wire Mod ? I don't want to go buying a new tranny.

105k i had the Sonnax and VB put in the same time around 4-5 months ago and is going great. Have 110k now. That said i avoid OD when doing WOT and try to avoid 2nd Prime downshifts.

 

The TMR mod changes the pressure in your transmission line to make a firmer shift.

 

I always turn off the Over Drive when I hammer it. But the downshifting... is it that strong ? also what is VB ? Im sure I know but I am drawing a blank.. And I can not find the wire on the Sonnax website...... Did you have a Sonnax transmission put in ?

VB is short for Valve Body which i replaced with a aftermarket valve body.

Second prime is considered our weakest transmission shift.

Keeping it out of OD is trying to keep it out of 4th and 5th when going WOT as they are also weak transmission points.

Anyway you should be ok regarding your original question.

Shoot i just saw you have a 03. Are you referring to the TMR wire mod? If so then disregard my posts.

 

If its the TMR mod go ahead and do it, I did mine at 90k and it is soo much better. At WOT the shifts are firm and the truck lunges foward between shifts. Before it would slip and the truck would just die between shifts but not anymore.

 

Yeah the TMR Mod is what I was talking about. TCM wire mod ? Is that the same thing. I just did the power wire today and I wanted a firmer shift since the super chips tuner does not let you mess with shift points on the 03.

 

Its the same mod. Just a old mod that the name changes but the goal is the the same LOL.

Anway i am sure the Forgettern Members and chime in to see how thier tran's are holding up. It meant to be a easy mod with great results.
