Default 03 Ram - Want to disable traction control!

Offroading out in the snow today I got stuck, and even more stuck when the truck wouldn't let me spin the tires like mad to get out. Had to sit there and wait in park till the brake lights went out, then I floored it and got out fine. Any ways to disable the traction control on these trucks?

Ahhh, one of the advantages of a 03. The rest of trucks eat your hearts out,, lol
It is refered to as the TMR mod. There is a DIY write-up. If you can't find it, post up and you'll get some help.

Edit: I just did a search for the TMR mod to no avail. Where is it hidden? It constantly being mentioned how folks don't use "search" before posting. Well, try to use "it" and you will fully understand why no one uses it.

2nd Edit: It's some sorry **** when using Yahoo is easier than the forum search. Anyway, this should do it....

Take off the 1B cover and you will see the Yellow and green wire going into the plug. With a small scket set lossen the bolt in the center and pull the plug away from the Computer. Locate the correct side where the Yellow and green stripe wire is and then Pry the RED retainer out and using a jewelers flathead screwdriver and push the wire out the backshell and pull the wire completely out.

position the wire out of the way and reinstall the red retainer and plug...

I do have to agree that the search function isn't very user friendly at all

Except for this one time, you would be considered fortunate. You will need a turner. I take it you have a late year build and it is a factory install.

Good luck.

Yep, that pcm was put in from the factory. Hopefully a tuner won't have a fit when I plug it in

No the turners will see it as a 04. The only issue you might have would be with a SC if it sees your PCM version as being out of date. It will require a PCM Flash update from the dealer. Hopefully your dealer is better equiped than mine. They said they updated the PCM but my PCM was locked and wouldn't accepted the new version number. So my SC still won't load. Of course it is all BS, but I didn't have time to deal with it before leaving on an extended trip. It'll get sorted out when I return. Good luck..

All '03 Hemi trucks are capable of the TMR mod, regardless if they have a 3 plug JTEC controller or the newer 4 plug NGC controller. Find the TMR wire on the second controller mounted on the passenger fender and cut it. Tuners go by the VIN of the truck and if it is a model year '03 then all the tuning options and capabilities will remain the same regardless the controller type. My truck was built the end of May with the newer controller and operates the same as every other '03 with the 5 or 6 different brand scanners and tuners I've connected over the years.
