hey there i am having a problem with my truck rpm guage staying at zero while at idle .?it rises when the accell pedel is pushed but when i let up it drops rights to zero.and some time while driving it will be at say 1500rpm then just drop to 0.and sometimes its fine .i fliped up the PDC/FUSE BOX cause i know there bad for wires there but soaked in krown rust controler.could it mabey the cluster needs reprogarmed or re-flased or faulty cluster/wiring to cluster? any help greatly app

 

i know someone on here has had or has seen this problem .need help guys

 

My truck is doing the same thing. I've been told it is caused by a bad stepper motor in the cluster. You can replace the whole cluster, or have someone replace the stepper motor.

 

Could also be the connections at the back of the IC. You may want to pull it out and check them.

 

has anyone replaced the cluster and had the problem fixed?cani order just the stepper motor from the dealer?could it mabey just need re-programed or re-flashed

 

There have been guys who have replaced the IC. They must be VIN programmed by the dealer with the correct mileage.

 

so if i get one from a wrecking ward i will need to take it to my local dealer for programing

 

I have never heard it called that before... wrecking ward. or a Junk yard ?

 

lol i am from ontario canada wrecking ward junk ward same thing so either way if i get one used it needs to get programed with the star scan from chrysler only

 

could have sworn i saw on here before were someone tried to have a dealer reprogram the gauges and they wouldn't do it. my tach does the same thing, does anybody else's get stuck between 5 and 6 grand when you floor it and then spin the opposite way to rest on the bottom of the pin? mine has done it a couple times. it will right itself after a couple days tho. just one of those things, it's not a major issue, just more annoying than anything.
