I have 123K on my '03 and I would like to put in my vote for it being a great truck.

I get a couple of nagging irritants with it but it is an 8 year old truck that has given me terrific miles over the years. So, when the problems come up I fix them with the help of the guys here.

To the OP, all of those issues (save for the rust) sound relatively easily fixed. So, c'mon friend, let's get started fixin' her up. What are the codes that it is throwing? Brake pads don't wear instantly, get the tires off and look at them. Are they wearing evenly or is one stuck and grinding?

just since it has creeped into this thread...
My personal POS was an '87 Chevy Camaro. Total.Complete.Absolute.POS. May it rot in the pits of Hades.

Amazing what happens when the word ''from'' is omitted.....

Do all us a favor, and if you decide to get rid of it, let the person know that it is to be sold for parts. Or at least let the person know of the problems up front, and let them decide if they want to deal with the hassles.

It would be great if EVERYONE was up front when selling a vehicle. Too many damn people out there buy a vehicle, beat it to death, don't do any maintenance except maybe an oil change once a year or so and then band aid the problems enough to sell it as "reliable transportation".

I very rarely buy used, but when I do, I check it over best I can. I have even paid for a compression check on a used car once when my ex was looking while we were dating.

I agree. Carfax won't show all maint. or repairs done at home by the owner. Only stuff done at a reporting shop.

Now I got to figure out if my power steering pump is bad or if its my steering rack. Cause Im getting a noise from my front end when I turn my wheel that sounds like a freight train is running thru my truck. And now its starting to do it even whem my wheel is straight.

Ive already fixed just about everything else. Arghh. Never ever ever had any problems with my 01 Ford F150 or my 03 Chevy Silverado.
Well, I took it to the shop today and figured out the problem. It was from my rear e brake shoes. The pads seperated from the shoes and were getting hung up on the inside of the rotors. So no more noise.

Now I think Im due for a power steering pump. I have plenty of fluid in my reservior but when I start my truckin the morning now I have to fight the steering wheel to turn it. Its fine after that for the rest of the day.
