Default truck bugged out ...

aigh guys .... let me hear the bad news pretty sure my **** is breakin

the other day i hopped into my truck after it bein off for a few hours, put the truck into drive and put my foot lightly on the gas. it took a while to finally get movin, you could hear the engine reving but i guess it didn't "catch" for a good few seconds. pulled out of my parkin spot, drove about 30 feet than my truck jerked forward pretty hard. did this again right after, hard enough to throw me back into my seat, then the truck just shut off. had to twist the key a few times to get the car back on, than it drove away just fine.

it's not too abnormal for when i turn the truck on either for it to not "catch" right away ... it happens quite freqentuely actually.

i'm pretty sure my tranny is just a piece, some people say just change my fluid? any help would be great

Sounds like a tranny, I had something like that on my Grand Caravan but when tranny maintenance was made in my garage it almost disappeared.

Sounds like transmission solenoids... you described almost exactly what happened to my truck before the solenoids fried.

You may try to start your truck and let it idle for a min. before you put in gear, Dodge torque converters drain back when the truck sits for a while and you need to let idle to build up the pressure. Good luck!
Hope this helps.

How many km/MI on the truck? Have you ever changed the tranny fluid? Worth a shot.

I agree i would start with a trans flush and filter change and see where it goes from there. Awesome DIY writeup here http://www.60ateight.com/DodgeRam/

Thats a good write-up but I dont understand why he didn't FIRST disconnect the return line and pump the fluid out of the pan prior to dropping it. It would make the job much cleaner and easier! I'd rather drop an empty pan, wouldn't you?

If its your torque convertor thats slipping. Try a bottle of the lucas stop slip... I usually dont recommend additives but back when i was delivering pizza my truck was getting a new motor put in and i was driving my grandmothers car (1999 Avalon with 32k Grandma driven miles in 10 years)... .Well long story short i may have been a bit harder on it than her and was having a similar problem as you... Dumped 2 bottles of lucas stop slip in.... Shes now up to 39k miles without any problems haha!

the solenoids are a cheap fix, (usually mybe $50 a piece and you just have to drop the pan to change them. while the pan is off change the filter and check the magnet for any large pieces or debris. Clean it all up good and fill with new oil.
