Default Tire Wear and Wheel Alignment

I have a problem with my front right (passenger) tire showing wear on the inner side of the tire. I have taken it to for an alignment but didn't remedy the problem. The technician told me that my left (driver) side has a worn ball joint and a worn wheel bearing on the right (side). With these two parts being worn, would the ball joint on the left side of the truck have an affect on the alignment on the right side of the truck? I would like to fix the most likely part that is causing the problem and leave the other for a later date.

The ball joint is causing the alignment problem, but that wheel bearing could strand you along the side of the road.

I have a 2005 Ram 1500 4x4 Laramie 4 door. Its funny a worn ball joint on the left side creates alignment problems on the right side. Guess the ball joint gets fixed first. The wheel bearing is showing signs of wear. I had recently changed the wheel bearing on the driver side and was told the other usually is not too far behind. But would like to get the alignment corrected so I can drive the truck more than a few miles. I just bought new tires for the winter and that's when I noticed the tire wear on the right side. The old ones I took off were pouched.

no, you have IFS so a worn bearing/ball joint on one side will not affect the other. If it were a strait axle I could see this, but each wheel moves independently of the other. I cant see it doing anything but ruining the side its bad on

I have a 2005 1500 QC with 20" rims and the tires wear fast also.. Make sure you rotate your tires more often. You will get better tire life out of them this way.

Adding to the wheel bearing breaking and leaving you stranded.....snap that BJ and see how far you drive too.....

Either one though is a cheap fix as long as you fix it yourself. Having a shop do it is what costs.

The bad wheel bearing can cause wear if it is bad enough. To be totally honest the tire wear is the least of your worry. Both of those problems need fixing as soon as possible. If you only fix the ball joint, you are pissing in the wind to have it aligned with the bad bearing.
