Default Why to buy a Quad Cab!

Biggest thing about a regular cab vs quad cab is this.... (unfortunately extended cab offers a lot of the middle ground people a healthy alternative, but doesnt come with a cool dodge bumper proceeding a ultimate hemi)

My nickname is representative of the truck I had before this one. I bought a silver reg cab sport, had it custom done into rumble bee decals with srt 10 hood, all sorts of mods, lights, stereo, lowered, extra juice under the hood, exhaust, whole nine yards. Not much was left all that stock. The truck was a bling lovers super star. I could drive by a bar and have attention over honda crap with little trouble. The Hemi was loud, powerful, fast and extreme. I work in the canadian oilfield though. However, besides the need for a more trucky - truck like my new one I bought six months after the rumble bee (haha did I ever lose money on that plan hahahaha) I now own a 04 2500 diesel quad cab 4x4 6spd. Done up this one too. About 900 lb ft of tq and 480 hp. Its no slow beast. So I have had both brand new 04 rams in reg cab and quad cab trim. Most of my driving is highway all by myself driving. But I tell ya, the quad cab sure is nice. It doesnt look as cool, and sure as hell dont pick up the girls. But its one of those things that if you need it once a month for half an hour, it can make ALLLLLL the difference.

I do a lot of quadding. Having the ability to throw the waterproof quad in the back and the non waterproof quadding gear in the the back seat is nice. Being able to throw my work clothes bag in the box, and fold out the metal racks and throw my comfy nice after work clothes in the back is a hell of a better option than it was when it was strapped in like a passenger. I know what its like sleeping in a reg cab. When I wanted to get the diesel, I SLEPT in the truck (Reg cab) for 4 1/2 months (one week off a month when I was home) to pocket living allowance money that I woulda spent on a damn hotel room. I tell ya, if you ever have to pull over on a long drive, good luck not shifting a few vertabrae sleeping in it. I have slept in the quadcab, WAY better. Even better yet, fold out the metal racks, put down three foamies... you got a bed in the back seat. Thats actually really comfortable. I got a bigass sub box back there that takes up 1/3 of the back seat (Two thousand watters) And the biggest part of having a quadcab is weather. And convenience of access. I mean, sure you can say, get a tonnea, but its not much fun having groceries slide all over the place. Its nice being able to take the girlfriend, or even just yourself shopping, and have the room to put it all in the back seat, and still have your box empty (my quad pretty much owns that space full time) Myself, I got the custom sub box on the drivers side sitting on the metal racks fulltime (built into the seat so it looks awesome) That takes up 1/3 I can still use the 2/3 metal racks or seats. I pretty much fulltime have my riding gear bag (For quadding) in the back seat on metal racks. Quads in the box. And I still have the equivalent of a regular cab for me and girlfriend or two friends. When I head out to work, I can put my nice clothes on top of the quadding bag. Work stuff in the back. Storing all my emergency gear under the seats. I mean, its sheer convenience. Being able to reach into the back seat to grab something (12 back of water bottles) and the front area is still clean and clutter free. You can pretty much make a disaster area or neat storage area in the back seat, keep the front totally clean, and you can pick up a girl and they will look at you like you have a clean truck because the backseat dont matter. (if you can afford a 45000 dollar truck you can afford a hotel room or an appartment/house) For towing, and snow, and bad driving conditions, the elongated wheelbase is much more stable. I mean, in a year I have bought two new trucks, and I love the quad cab. Sure, friday nights I wish I was cruising the streets in the slick lookin silver rumble bee, But it drove me nuts when I went to a party and had to throw 12 people in the box and load my truck to move to a new party. I hated that every time I went to get groceries the truck felth "Full" and "Cluttered". And I am only 21. I can only imagine what its like being able to stuff the kids in the back seat, or to be able to store toys and coloring books back there. Being able to keep stuff sheltered from weather and theives. I mean, you can throw a chainsaw or saw or any other tool on the metal racks. You can conceal lots of stuff under the seats. For those of you living in the states theft is huge. In Canada weathers either bad, worse, or crappy. And the bed is no place for much of anything. Even with a tonneau cover its not that great, cuz you cant see stuff spilling. Get forced to clean up salsa thats all over the bed and rest of the grocery bags because you didnt know it broke on the trip home. So I mean, unless you REALLY dont have much of anything to bring with you, no friends, family, animals, tools, files, paperwork, equipment, travelling, or anything else I have mentioned, go buy a reg cab... or maybe a Subaru, or light duty truck like a Dakota or S10. Because really, spending 40 grand on a hemi half ton reg cab, that becomes totally useless if you pick up a new hobby, rideless friend, or find out that that chicks really cool and maybe you should have a kid, is kinda thoughtless. I know, I have been there. I mean, I coulda saved 5 grand and bought a used 2001 corvette and I could had everything that rumble bee did for me and more. Hell, I could bought the used vette and an old piece of crap truck to take to the oilpatch instead of driving my rumble bee, or now my new 60000 dollar diesel down the worst roads in the world.

Quad cab offers more space when the time is needed. It will eventually be needed sometime down the road. Plus the Quad cab offers more safety to the front driver and passenger. It also looks better imo. Get what you want is my opinion to anyone looking to buy a Ram.

I guess I'm fortunate to have a different vehicle for every purpose (and then some). Hence, my truck can be just that and nothing else, i.e. outfitted to a very narrow specific purpose.

All the best.

I've got the quad as it is more versatile for me. It is usually my wife, myself, and my dogs so the space is important. All the best.
