4wd flashing
got a 2007 ram with hemi and electric transfer case. when i turn the switch to 4wd hi or lo, it seems like it goes into 4wd, but the light keeps flashing and wont go to solid 4wd indicator light. the manual says that the transfer case is not completing the shift, but does not give any troubleshooting hints. what could be the problem? thanks, todd
Hi Todd
With the electric switching for 4Hi you should be able to do it on the move with the steering straight, as long as you let off the throttle until it engages, for 4Lo you need to stop and go into Park or Neutral, but go fully into 4Hi first.
If you still have a prob then try listening for the solenoid moving when you switch, if you can't hear it, check the 4x4 fuses, fuse 9 30A, fuse 31 10A. Also check the transfer box oil level.
If that fails, I'd say you'll need to get the solenoid/gearbox checked at the dealership.
Hope this helps

the fuses are good, the fluid is new and at the proper level. It goes into 4wd, I can feel it when I turn the wheel, but the light keeps blinking and wont go steady light. Is it the solenoid and is that something I can change myself.
I got this stuff, called black electrical tape. I stick it over the light. problem solved.
On a more serious note. it could be a simple connection problem. check all your wiring harnesses and connections. I think thats the culprit.

I always liked that extra shifter on the floor!!! I had one (shifter) that was lying flat. after a run in with railroad tracks...lol. broke the shifter braket underneath the floofboards. whoopsy...
