torque converter
From what i have seen the stock dodge 1500 torque converter is nothing short of being crap, im wanting to do something after market such as a TCI, what are some good brands that yall would go with. Also im wanting to do the 4.56 gears, has anyone done a DIY on those yet? Thanks

Edge is becoming popular and APS has good reviews. I installed the TCI Breakaway 2600 in my 03 back in August and it works real nice especially with my new cam (didn't like the 6.1 Cam and 3:55's Combo) and IMO immediately got more Torque to my wheels as I started to spin where before I could Not, however like yourself I feel I will not get the best out of it until the 456 Gears and LSD go in. I also found that the addition of a Ported Throttle Body after the TC Mod helped also with Driveability. The Install took me and a helper about 6 1/2 hours to do it cause had to remove the Transfer Case. Exhaust was just unbolted at the headers and I was able to leave the Torsion Bars and crossmember in place as well (rearward of the trans crossmember that came out). If you are doing a TC I recommend the addition of a shift Kit and or if you got the money a Stage 2 Sharadon Valve Body. You have the 03 so do the #10 Pin TMR Delete Mod as it will help and even if you are running a Tuner if you go Shift Kit install the resistor for line pressure contrary to the Instructions that were written really for the 04-05 Models.

I thought DIY means install steps, not providing a top 5 list to someone.
I am very happy with my Edge Billet TC 2800 and Andre's customer service has been exceptional.
My 3400 will either be another Edge or Circle. I am learning towards the Circle D.

I'm actually a little surprised you went with a 6.1 cam. It's known to put up decent mid-high rpm gains over the stock cam but actually dynos worse than stock when it comes to low end torque. Great Hemi car or even a RCSB 4x2 cam, but I don't think it's a real good QC choice, especially if you haul/tow. I'd imagine 4.56s would be a must.
How's she tow with it in there?

Hammer the 6.1 Cam pulled really hard up top and probably would have worked fine had I left it in and tried the 456's, but it was my first Cam an experience and after joining DF I realized it was a Mistake so in Oct I put in the Crazy Spartan on a 114 LSA and with the SC3865 works great.
Kay9. I did a Ported Throttle Body. The Brute Force CAI system came with the TB spacer, but I removed it when I put in the new Throttle Body as the spacer IMO is useless. I could go on about that but I'll keep this short (Learned my lesson with a Helix Spacer when I was a Newbie).
