A friend of mine sells Chevy trucks. I took him for a ride in my new Hemi, 4x4 QC with 3.92. He seemed to think that the 05 Chevy with the all alluminum 312hp motor in a 4x4 crew cab was just as fast. I told him he is full of ****. He went on to say that even thought that the older 295 hp extended cab with 4x4 could beat my hemi. At that point I said lets race. Unfortunately, he cant race because he doesnt own one personally. Has anyone raced a Chevy? I abosulute hate that POS Company and am not hesitant on blowing the doors off one. I told him that the only Chevy that will give my truck a run for its money would be either a 2wd std cab or the SS pickup truck. I am still not even sure that one of those will take my truck. Does anyone know proven clock times for acceleration on these trucks, or have stories of whupping a Chevy hard at the light. Please dont refrain from using Chevy name poorly. I know that the F-150 wouldnt put up a fight at a stoplight, those things are gutless along with the Tundra. The only one I would consider giving me a run for my money is the Titan with the big tow package, and I am still hesitant on that. Sorry, I am just venting right now after being insulted by ignorance.[:-]

 

Althought there was no tire squaling, it was a race at a light and i raced a new chevy with the 5.3 and he was only a reg. cab. I have a 04 QC Hemi and i stomped on him. Just look at the horsepower numbers. I dont think any chevy of any size except the SS can really keep up with a Hemi. I love chevy's dont get me wrong. i have a chevy camaro i was origonalyl a chevy guy. So im not just trashing them. But the hemi is "the untouchable engine" (www.hemi.com)

 

yeah the hp numbers dont lie. never racxed a chevy but blew the dorrs off a f250 the other day

 

You might have a raced a 4.8, unless you personally know the truck you raced. I can tell you that the only test I saw of the all aluminum version was a 4x4 extended cab with 4.10 gears. 0-60 was 7.0, 1/4 mile was 15.1. Looking at those numbers tells me it will most certainly run with a stock Hemi in the sam cab configuration! Bear in mind the Chevy is quite a bit lighter. Just for the record, certain model Chevy and GMC's are now available in 1/2 ton 2wd with the 345 h.p. 6.0! Early tests of an extended cab 2wd GMC with 3.73 gears was netting 14.7's with a lot of tire spin. Dodge better not rest on thier reputation, GM is catching up!

 

Sounds like they finally have something that will run with a Hemi RC 2WD, but I'm curious why they are turning out a truck like that since it outperforms the SS silverado.

 

I took on an Avalanche the other day, light to light, and roasted him. When he finally got to the next light, he just looked over and smiled that sheepish smile that said, "gee, I wish I'd bought one of those".

I was at a light a few days ago when this fx4 four door ford with a 5.4 pulled up along side of me.I didn't pay much attenction to him until he peeled away from the light .So I stomped my Hemi, quad cab ,4x4, with 17 in tires and the race was on. I cought him in about five seconds I was doing around fifty by then. Got it up to Eighty and was well pasted him and then he backed off.When we came up to the light his passanger's window came down and this pretty little red headed country girl said to me...is that one of those %*^# Hemi s.?

 

The 1/2 ton offerings with the 6.0liter are in the silverado ss and the denali, both of which are all wheel drive. There isnt any tire spin from them because of the AWD. I have driven the silverado SS and I thought it was very weak for a mussle truck. Keep in mind that the 345 hp is from a heavier motor and on top of that a heavier frame because it uses the 3/4 ton front clip as well as AWD. I dont know where you got the 14.7 time from these trucks because after driving one, you will see that those numbers are not very likely from one. As for cab configuration, is it really apples to apples comparing a ext cab to a quad cab? I dont know where you got your information on 345hp 2wd 1/2 tons. I know these things because I used to sell Chevys, one of the reasons that I hate them. As for the test on the 4x4 ext cab with the 310hp motor, it used 4.10 gears. I think that the more even comparison would be a 3.73. I can always swap out to 4.10 or better yet 4.53 gears to get better acceleration, its only a matter of gear ratio chosen.

 

I chevy guy at work said he heard they are going to come out with a RC 6.0L SS truck supposedly. Whether or not they do that is another story. I mean why didn't they just do that in the first place.
