custom tuning
i have a bully dog programmer on my truck now but im wanting a little more out of the truck. it still feels like it has alot of torque management left in it. who does a good tuning job?
Can the bully dog support custom tunes? I did not think they did. If you want custom tuning you are going to have to go with Diablo Sport, either a Predator or Trinity. SCT only supports 04-06 Hemi Rams.
What all mods have you done to your truck, because while custom tuning will help, it will not do much over most canned tunes unless you get into bigger mods like cams/heads etc.

I know superchips does, but I was talking custom tuning. Superchips does not offer custom tuning. If you are referring to the SCT for 04-06 rams, SCT is another company that makes programmers, it is a totally different company than Superchips.
The Bully is a very good diesel tuner, but it doesn't do much on a Ram gasser. Without heavy mods (cam and/or heads, etc.) you really aren't gonna see much more from a custom tune than with canned tune from a Superchips or Diablo.
I have run both and personally see HUGE advantages with the SC, but that's mainly because the Diablo does not support the transmission of my '04. I have full tranny tuning and can reduce torque management with the SC and it's HUGE...

If you have the right mods, a custom tune will beat out any tune out there, with just the headers on a custom tune using the DSP and HemiFever's Tuning beat the heck out of any other tune I have ran. With the cam, well there is no compairison.
So really it would depend on the mods you have, if it is just an intake and catback there really is no point going to a custom tune, I would however ditch the bullydog and go to either a Superchips or a DSP depending on what you are wanting out of the vehicle. If you DO want to add headers and a cam and make it quicker the DSP is absolutely the way to go, if you want to stick with a just minor things like a catback and cai then Superchips is the way to go. IMO both the tuners will out perform the bullydog tuner easily

I like the Superchips, and to date Custom Tuning is still only an option for me even with all the little mods I have to date. My truck Combo runs great with only the odd P300 code, and Hemifever said not to sweat that as it is inherent with most of the aftermarket Cams. Since I do not want to drive around with my Check Engine light on forever, I have decided to pursue a good A/F Guage (TBD) and a PSC1-003 to work with my SC3865 since Diablo is not in my sights at this time. With that hopefully I can figure it out easily enough.
