Default y-pipe install

I was quoted a couple hundred bucks because the guy thought the cats were in the y-pipe. I said not the one I bought. is the y-pipe even close to the catalytic converter?

Nope it's back right where the two sides come together into one in a "Y". There is no way a cat could fit in a Y pipe, if you get under your truck and look, you'll see what I mean. DON'T LET THE GUY WHO SAID THAT TOUCH YOUR TRUCK!!!

Sorry for the crude drawing, but you get the point:

I had one made for me when I did my header install, it looks very much like OlDirty's, just a bit shorter. IMO it isn't quite as free flowing as the Maggy "Y", which had I known existed at the time I would have bought. BUT it's a hell of a lot better than the stock POS...

My 03 had a single cat and it was welded in immediatly after the y-pipe. In 04 they (Dodge) went with dual cats before the y.

After some checking around was quoted $103.50 for muffler and y-pipe install. This sound about right?
