fog light help

Default fog light help

ok so i just purchased a fog light kit with the switch bezel lights and wire because im pre wired , i will be getting them on thursday and probably install friday , will i need to reset the computer on the truck or will the lights automaticlly work once i plug and play and change the switch ??

You lost me man, so your getting a new switch for them as well? Or you don't have fog lights now?

I don't see why you would need to reset the computer. Should just work after being plugged in.

I think you have to get them activated with a Starscan or DRBIII (when you do, see if you can get them done as 'export', that way you won't need a jumper wire for your fogs to stay on with your high beams).

my Dad's 07 needed the flash when I added fog lights, I ended up just using a separate switch and saved $100

It's hit and miss. Some have hooked them up and they worked (obviously the PCM was set for them) and others had to goto the dealer to be hooked up to the StarScan tool. I've heard of dealers doing it for free and have heard they've wanted to charge as much as $145 for it. It's about a 10 minute thing, but expect to pay whatever their labor rate is for an hour...

ok i guess i will find out this weekend !! i do not have for lights now so i got the kit with the switch that goes in the cab that you pull for fog lights just like a factory set up . thanks guys have a good new year !

I think it's some 06's and 07+ because it's within the TIPM and not the ecu. 05-prior don't have a tipm. It only makes sense because some have not had any issues while others have and I don't think anyone has paid attention to the model years.
