Top hose internal diameter

Top hose internal diameter
I'm hoping someone can tell me what the internal diameter of the top hose is from the rad to the thermostat.
I don't really want to drain down the system just to find out and while I've had a quick measure with the ruler and it looks to be about 38-40mm ID would like to make sure, my reason for asking is that I'm looking at inline fan thermostats for an electric fan install, so I'll be cutting the pipe in half and adding in the thermostat.
The other thing I'd like to know is what you guys set your fan controllers to switch on and off at? I've got a fan switch that switches on at 100C and off at 95C and will make a really neat OEM style install.
