ABS sensor question

ABS sensor question
HI folks.
I'm curious to know something on an SLT 06 1500 Ram that only has rear ABS. It appears that the only rear sensor is on the diff.
My question is how does the ABS know when to kick in if one of the back wheels stops turning while the other is still spinning if there is only 1 sensor?
Also, are there any sensors on the front? I didn't see any when I looked. I'm just curious to know how it works.

Thanks weed. I certainly hope we get more input as I'm very curious to know how the rear only ABS works properly. It just seems that sometimes it doesn't do things right and could be due to the fact that the design is bad.
If others see this thread and have input, please post! The thread isn't dead. I'll keep checking it.

Hi Bama, Yes you are correct. The ring is in the diff. My problem in trying to understand is how can the computer judge if you are in a lockup based on a single point of input? it should have sensors on all 4 wheels to see that the front is spinning while back is locked.
Or if one back wheel locks up, the diff and driveshaft will still be revolving, so the ABS sensor still records movement.
