Yeah I don't think its a spun bearing I know my gauge would be fluctuating bad. Yes I do have oil pressure. What do you mean by lifters not pumped up? I didn't do anything to the rockers or push rods though. Maybe the Guy before me screwed them up. He put a new exhaust system on.

I thought you said that you rebuilt it but i miss read what you said.

It sounds like valve train noise to me.

I would pull the valve covers and see if your getting oil to the rockers. If the lifters are starved for oil they will not pump up and take out the valve lash in the valve train and give you a sound like that also.

Good luck.

Dont let the oil gauge fool you. It needs very LITTLE pressure to show normal on the dash. It is not an accurate gauge

How will I know if the lifters are starving for oil? Will I run the truck with the covers off?

Cant run the engine with covers off but you can turn it over and watch everything move. If a push rod is clogged it would stop the lifter from getting oil. But at the minimum you should have taken the valve covers odd already and checked for any play or other issues.

Yeah and whatever it is, driving it is only going to make it worse.
