4.7 Rev Limiter problem?
I am not familiar with the 4.7's. At what RPM does the stock limiter cut in? My nephew owns a '04 Ram 4.7 and on occasion the rev limiter will start cutting in at approx. 3400 rpms and will not rev any higher until he turns the switch off, then back on. The cruise will not work when this is happening either. After turning the truck off, then restarting it, it will rev over 4k when shifting out of OD to climb a long hill. Is the standard? 3400 rpm seems to be a bit early.
I searched the forum and found others that have had this problem, but no answer as to why it happens or if it is doing its job as it should?

So what I described is normal for the 4.7?
The cruise won't work and it will continue to cut out at any rpm over 3400 until he restarts it. It may be a month before it happens again. What sets this trend off?

No. He never knows when it may happen. I think it's happened 3 times in the last 6 months. He figured out that he could just turn the key off, back on and it would be fine.
my truck dont have one it hits 6000 all day long its funny when a hemi truck in town tries to rev his **** up at me and only hits like 3 then i blow his ear drums out at 6

rev limiter is roughly 5900 RPMS... .MY 2001 dakota would rev to 6k with the 4.7... my 2004 Ram revs to 5800/5900 (Cant really tell to be honest) .... This does not however sound normal. I do not know what will correct your problem though.
