Default Check Engine Light Turns Off & On

I have an 04 Dodge Ram 1500 with a Hemi and just over 105K miles. I have an alternating check engine light. On for a few days, off for a few days. When I have it checked, it reads an O2 fault, bank 2 sensor 2. I have noticed no problems with the running of the truck, none at all, but this light irritates me. Is there anything I can do short of taking it for replacement?

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated,

I would replace it and see what you get.

How difficult is this repair? I am fairly hands on, but I would hate to break something that costs more than the repair itself?

O2 sensor from Autozone is about $25. You disconnect the electrical connector on the old one, unscrew it, screw the new on in place and connect it. Reset the PCM and see what you get.

Reset the PCM, I'm guessing that's some sort of computer. Would disconnecting and reconnecting the battery achieve this? Also, you state that you can find this at Autozone, is this a universal or OEM part? Install sounds pretty easy. I do appreciate your time on this.

To reset the PCM on an 04, pull fuse #23, put the key in and flip the ignition on-off-on-off-on and wait about about 15 secs. It should ding once and then ding 2 more times. Take the key out, replace the fuse and start the engine.

As for the pass side rear O2, look at Autozone part number 15729

Was the part from Autozone an OEM or a universal sensor? Mechanics have warned me to stay away from universal sensors

OEM as it is PnP. However, you can get it from the dealer or where ever else that you may feel better about getting it from.

You might need to clean the connectors on the O2 sensor conector might have bad connection thats why it goes off and on you hit a bump rigt and breaks contact unplug the O2 sensor and use the electrical cleaner i use brake fuildjust have to wait a little longer for it to air die then plug it back in

With it being intermittent, I'd agree that it'd be sensor related, whether it's the sensor itself, a connection or a bad wire...
