Default Exhaust issue's!

Hey guys I bought an 07 5.7 about 6 months ago and it came with a flowmaster exhaust..im pretty sure it's that american thunder one not positive though anyways it is a single in dual out and one of the rear pipes rotted off at the muffler today (surprise..surprise). I think i am just gonna get a muffler and have a shop weld up some piping and was wondering if anyone who lived in the new england area had an idea on how much a shop would charge for that. Also if any of you have heard both a system similiar to mine and a magnaflow, would a magnaflow be similar in sound or more/less mellow because im thinking of going the magnaflow route but don't want to lose any sound. Thanks

As much as I liked my old Flowmaster, I like my Magnaflows better. As for the price, best thing to do is call some shops and ask

flowmaster is for sound, magnaflow --I believe actually flows better..

I read this on the forums and talked to the exhaust shop before I did mine and they agreed.

I have the Magnaflow. Sounds great and flows better than the Rustmaster. You should be able to get a unpolished Magnaflow installed for around $100. I bought the whole kit which has stainless pipes too for a little over $400 so it will last pretty much forever. Much better than the aluminized pipes that local shops use. The Magnaflow kit 16700 fits your truck and is cheapest at www.performancepeddler.com That's where I got mine.

Awesome thanks for the help guys im gonna see what the dealership says first not that there actually gonna help me but well see. It was certified and i do have an extended warranty. Even if they give me a new stock exhaust i'll put the magnaflow on that because if the flowmaster rotted where it did im sure there is other places it rotted also that im not seeing.

same flippin thing happen to me....rotted out right at the welds of whatever shop put the exhaust on. the idiots who designed the piping obivously did not think (everything was all custom from muffler on back to the tips). They had an S pipe from the muffler to the straight pipe and then the exhaust pipes were bent upwards then went straight out the back....this led to any water/condinsation draining into the muffler and it had nowhere to go because it was mounted lower then all other pipes..dumbest design ever..finally rotted out and i cut it off and all this rusty water leaked out. I put a whole new system on. I got the flowmaster super 44 muffler with 4 inch tips. it sounds amazing. much louder then the american thunder which is the basic setup for the ram. only thing i would do differently would do a true dual setup since my warranty for the exhaust is voided anyway from when i bought the truck. i knew this was going to happen eventually though so i wasnt pissed, was just annoyed and the fabricating.
