1. i can hear a constant ticking noise in what i believe is the drivers front tire, of course i can only hear it at low speeds like coming up to a traffic light. it ticks whether i am braking or not. it increases or decreases seed with the speed of the truck. what the hell is it? my truck is under extended warranty so its gonna cost me $100 to get fixed. figured i would have them check out the cigarette lighter too...
2. time for tires for my truck. i am eyeballing some Dueler H/T 684s 265/70/17 originally it had 245/70/17 Goodyears. what losses am i looking at in MPGs, will the ride be softer? how off will the speedo be? i am leaning towards highway tires because i rarely get off road, mainly during the summer getting to my fishing holes, and could use any mpg gain from a highway vs all terrain tire. i don't need ATs, my truck isn't 4x4

Are you sure you do not have a nail or screw in the tire and the click comes from the head of it contacting the pavement? Ive had that happen before.
As for the tires, the ones you are looking at are not taller but only slightly wider. I dont see it make much difference at all. It will not affect the speedo.

The diameter is influenced by the width of the tire as the height 70 refers to a percentage of the width of the tire.
Your old tires have a diameter of 30,6", while your new tires will be 32,2". This difference will increase your actual speed by 5,6% compared to the speedometer.

i thought it was a rock or screw too, but cannot find one in any tire...its hard to explain, but it clicks too often at slower speed to be a rock or such, like it clicks more often than the tire makes a revolution, does that make sense?
the 265/70/17 tires on the Expedition are noticeably taller than on the Ram, or am I insane?

I had the "Hemi tick" but it turned out to be two broken manifold bolts(81K miles). Dealer replaced both manifolds, gaskets and heat shields - under warranty. Check to see if any of your manifold bolts are broken.???
